Government drawing up plans for ‘Future Forest Project’
Effort to rejuvenate forests devastated by pine wilt

Officials are drawing up plans to replace the hundreds of thousands of pine trees in local forests that have succumbed to pine wilt.

The provincial government says it will finalize the details of its so-called “Future Forest Project” within the year and invest around 1.6 billion won on implementation.

As a first step, officials will distribute fruit tree seeds to the public this spring. Seogwipo will give out 5,000 seeds of 11 varieties, including blueberries. Jeju City officials plan to distribute 4,800 seeds of four types, including the mini apple.

특히 봄철 나무심기 기간을 맞아
서귀포시는 활칠과 블루베리등 11종 나무 5천여 본을
제주시는 미니사과 등 4종 나무 4천 800여 본을
선착순 무료 공급할 계획입니다.
