Cabbies lose licenses if caught overcharging 3 times
Tougher rules in effect since February

Taxi drivers caught overcharging passengers three times will have their licenses revoked.

The provincial government says the heightened measures came into force in February. Drivers will be fined for the first violation. The second will result in a temporary suspension of their license. And if caught overcharging passengers three times within two years, taxi drivers and the companies they belong to will have their driving and business licenses revoked.

The province says there were 356 reports of unlawful acts involving cabs last year. 110 were for refusing to pick up passengers and 43 were for overcharging.

택시 이용요금을 부당하게 징수하다가 세 번 적발되면 택시 면허가 취소됩니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 택시 요금을 부당하게 받다가 적발될 경우
자격을 취소하는 삼진아웃제가 지난달부터 시행됐습니다.

이에따라 2년 이내 부당요금을 3번 받게되면 1차는 과태료, 2차는 자격정지, 3차는 운전자 자격 취소와 회사 면허가 취소됩니다.

지난해 제주도가 택시불법행위를 단속한 결과 모두 356건을 적발했고 이 가운데 승차거부가 110건, 부당요금 징수는 43건이었습니다.
