As GEC population rises, so does consumption
Nearly 4,600 have moved to area since Global Ed. City opened in 2011

More people are living at the Jeju Global Education City, and they’re spending more on goods and services there.

Figures show that since the first international school opened there in 2011, 4,574 people from the mainland have moved to the Global Education City. That includes students, staff, and their families.

Total spending, which includes school tuition fees and living expenses, rose 35 percent in just one year, from 106.8 billion won in 2014 to 139.5 billion won in 2015.

유입인구는 물론
가계지출 또한 늘어나는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면
지난 2011년 국제학교 개교 이후
제주출신을 제외한 재학생과 교직원,
그리고 동반가족을 포함해 모두 4천 574명이 제주로 이주했습니다.

또 국제학교 학비와 생활비 등을 포함한 가계지출액은
지난 2014년 1천 68억 원에서
지난해 1천 395억 원으로 30% 이상 증가했습니다.
