Jeju Museum of Art to hold special exhibition on Kang Yo-bae
April 15 to July 10

The Jeju Museum of Art will hold a special exhibition on Kang Yo-bae from next month until early July.

This will be the first time in 40 years Kang has held a personal art exhibition. Some 80 examples of his work will be on display.

Kang Yo-bae is one of the first generation of Korea’s “minjung” or “people’s” art period, and he was part of the group “Reality and Utterance” in the 1980s. He is known for his paintings of Jeju landscapes that combine realism with island history.

강 화백은 한국민중미술 1세대로 80년대 미술그룹 '현실과 발언'의
동인으로 활동했으며, 리얼리즘 회화와 역사 주제화의 새로운 지평을 펼쳐 보였다는 평가를 받고 있습니다.
