Zika virus can now be tested for in Jeju
Korea CDC allows local institute to test for infection

Local researchers can now test for the Zika virus… allowing for a swift response should such a case be found.

The Jeju Health and Environment Research Institute was recently approved by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as having the adequate facilities needed to carry out DNA testing for the virus.

It previously took four to five days to have the tests processed, as the Zika virus test could only be carried out at the Korea National Institute of Health on the mainland… but now such tests can be carried out at the local institute with results available within 24 hours.

최근 질병관리본부로부터
지카바이러스 유전자 검사법 평가에서
'적합기관'으로 판정을 받았다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라 그동안 국립보건연구원에서만 이뤄져
4-5일 걸리던 지카바이러스 진단이
제주보건환경연구원을 통해
24시간이내로 판정시간을 줄일 수 있게 됐습니다.
