JEC strengthens crackdown on election violations
More personnel assigned to keeping process fair

With just days to go until the April 13th elections, the Jeju Election Commission is strengthening its crackdown on campaign violations.

The commission on Friday will boost the number of people assigned to clamping down on false rumors, false propaganda, involvement of public officials in election campaigns, bribery, and illegal donations.

Candidates who receive bribes will be fined 10 to 50 times the amount they received, up to a limit of 30 million won. And voters can receive up to 500 million won for reporting serious crimes related to the elections.

4.13 총선이 다가오면서 제주도선거관리위원회가
내일(8일)부터 막바지 불법선거운동에 대한 단속을 강화합니다.

이를 위해 광역조사팀과 공정선거지원단 등의 단속인력을 동원해
허위사실 공표를 비롯한 흑색선전행위와 공무원의 선거관여행위,
금품이나 향응 제공, 기부행위를 중점 단속합니다.

선관위는 금품이나 음식물을 제공받으면 최고 3천만원 이내에서
10배 이상 50배 이하의 과태료를 받을 수 있는 만큼
유권자들의 각별한 주의를 당부하는 한편 중대선거범죄를 신고할 경우
최고 5억원의 포상금을 지급하고 있습니다.
