Steady increase in sales of prepaid garbage bags
13% surge in Q1

As police crack down on illegal garbage disposal, sales of prepaid garbage bags are on the rise.

The province says that, as of the end of March, sales this year stood at 1.56 billion won. That’s 13 percent more than during the same period last year. The growth was most evident in rural areas, where sales spiked by nearly 30 percent.

Provincial officials say the police crackdown, along with improved public awareness, is helping to keep the streets clean, and that the increased sales of trashbags is evidence of this.

15억 6천만원으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 13% 증가했습니다.
특히 읍면지역 쓰레기 종량제봉투 판매 수입은 30% 가까이 늘었습니다.

제주시는 야간시간 청결지킴이 운영 등 쓰레기 불법투기 단속과
시민의식이 향상되면서 종량제 봉투 판매량도 증가하고 있는 것으로
분석하고 있습니다.
