Air traffic increases 11% at Jeju airport
As busy as 1 flight every 2 minutes

The skies around Jeju International Airport continue to become busier.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport says an average 461 planes used the airport daily in the first quarter of 2016. That’s 11 percent more than the same period a year ago.

Air traffic peaked around 7 p.m., with an average of one flight taking off or landing every two minutes.

The ministry attributed the surge in traffic to the increase in routes between Jeju and China and the boost in domestic arrivals with the onset of spring.

제주공항의 1분기 항공 교통량이 지난해보다 증가한 것으로 나타났습니다.

국토교통부에 따르면 올해 1분기 제주공항을 운항하는
비행기 대수는 하루 평균 461대로 지난해보다 11% 증가했습니다.

항공교통량이 가장 많은 시간대는 저녁 7시로 이 시간에는 평균 2분당
한대 꼴로 비행기가 운항하는 것으로 파악됐습니다.

국토교통부는 중국노선 확대에 따른 중국인 관광객과
봄철 제주를 찾는 내국인 관광객도 급증했기 때문이라고 분석했습니다.
