16th Korea Saewooran Festival wraps up
Hundreds of orchid varieties on display

The 16th Korea Saewooran Festival drew to a close Sunday at the Jeju Student Cultural Center.

The Korea Saewooran Association hosted the event, and it was organized by the Jeju Orchid Association, the Tamna Saewooran Association, and seven other organizations. This year’s festival showcased over three days some 500 local orchids and 100 other wild plants and flowers.

The saewooran was named because of its resemblance to a shrimp, or “saewoo” in Korean. Jeju is home to the largest number of the flowers in Korea.

열리고 있습니다.

한국새우란협회가 주최하고 제주난우회, 탐라새우란회 등 9개 단체가 주관하는
이번 새우란대전에는 새우란과 금새우란, 한라새우란 등 500여 본과
석부작, 야생초 등 100여본이 전시되고 있습니다.

새우란은 뿌리마디가 새우처럼 생긴 난이라고 해서 붙여진 이름으로
제주는 새우란의 최대 자생지 입니다.
