Off-season training in Jeju ‘a success’
35,000 athletes trained here last winter

Officials say off-season athletic training on the island was a success.

Some 35,000 athletes on 2,500 teams visited Jeju for winter training between November and March. Experts say their visits created an economic ripple effect to the tune of 34.6 billion won.

By sport, 14,000 taekwondo athletes on 670 teams trained here - the most for any one sport. Next in line was baseball, with 60 teams and around 3,600 athletes. Rounding out the top three was swimming - some 3,400 swimmers on 320 teams trained in Jeju last winter.

제주시의 동계전지훈련 유치가
큰 효과를 준 것으로 분석된 가운데
종목별로는 태권도가 가장 많은 인원이 다녀간 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주시가 지난해 11월부터 지난달까지 유치한
동계전지훈련팀은
2천 500여 팀에 3만 5천여명에 이르는 것으로 집계됐습니다.

이같은 동계전지훈련 유치에 따른 지역경제 파급효과는
346억원으로 분석했습니다.

종목별로 보면
태권도가 670 여팀에 1만 4천여명으로 가장 많았고,
다음이 야구로 60 여팀에 3천 600여명,
수영 320 여팀에 3천 400여명 등입니다.
