Jeju products ‘free of contamination’
No unhealthy levels of radiation, pesticide residue, heavy metals

The Jeju Institute of Environment Research found no unhealthy levels of contamination in mackerel, anchovies, mushrooms, or other local products it tested.

The institute tested 171 local agricultural and marine products for radioactive contamination, pesticide residue, and heavy metal content. All samples tested within the safe range.

Researchers discovered pesticide residue on 30 products. They said though, that the amount was not enough to be unsafe, and that consumers could easily wash it away before consumption.

농수산물 식품이 각종 유해물질 오염으로부터
안전한 것으로 확인됐습니다.

제주도 보건환경연구원은
도내 유통 농수산물 171개 품목에 대한
유해물질 즉 방사성 물질과 농약잔류량,
중금속 등을 검사한 결과
모두 기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났다고 밝혔습니다

다만 농산물과 식품 가운데 30건에서 잔류농약이 검출됐지만
우려한 수준은 아니며
섭취전에 세척만 잘 하면 제거할 수 있다고 덧붙혔습니다.
