240,000 tourists expected over holiday weekend
29% more than last year

Following the national government’s announcement that May 6th will be a temporary holiday this year, the country will enjoy a four-day break from Children’s Day, on Thursday, through Sunday.

The Jeju Tourism Association projects some 240,000 tourists will visit Jeju over the period. That’s 29 percent more than during the same period a year ago.

Chinese and Japanese tourists are also expected to flock to the island. The upcoming four-day weekend coincides with China’s Labor Day holidays and Japan’s Golden Week holidays.

5월 황금연휴 관광객 24만명

정부가 다음달 6일을 임시공휴일로 지정하면서 제주를 찾는 관광객도 크게 늘어날 것으로 보입니다.

제주도관광협회는 다음달 5일부터 나흘동안 이어지는 연휴기간 관광객 24만여 명이 제주를 찾을 것으로 예상하고 있습니다.

이는 지난해 같은 기간보다 29% 증가한 수치입니다.

특히 중국의 노동절과 일본의 골든위크 기간 제주를 찾는 외국인 관광객도
늘 것으로 예상되면서 렌터카와 숙박 업체 등 관련업종도 연휴 특수를 누릴 것으로 보입니다.
