Groundbreaking ceremony for St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju
Fourth international school in GEC to open in September 2017

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the fourth international school in the Jeju Global Education City.

The Jeju Free International City Development Center and Haewul, its subsidiary that operates international schools in Jeju, held the event Friday at the construction site in the GEC.

St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju will sit on 100,000 square meters of land. The four-floor building will also have one basement level. It will have an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, and a theater when it opens in September 2017.

The boarding school will accept 1,200 students among 68 classes. Teachers will use the same curriculum in use at the school’s main campus in the US to teach elementary, middle, and high school.

제주영어교육도시에 네 번째 국제학교인 미국의 '세인트 존스베리 아카데미'가 본격적인 공사에 들어갔습니다.

JDC와 해울은 오늘(29일) 영어교육도시 내 세인트 존스베리 아카데미 신축공사 예정지에서 국토부와 제주도, 교육청, 학교측 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 착공식을 개최했습니다.

세인트 존스베리 아카데미 제주는 10만여 제곱미터 부지에 지하 1층, 지상 4층 규모로 실내 수영장과 체육관, 극장 등을 갖추고 내년 9월 개교할 예정입니다.

68개 학급에 1천 200여 명으로 기숙학교를 운영하게 되며 유치원부터 초, 중, 고등학교까지를 미국 본교의 교육프로그램과 동일하게 운영합니다.
