Jeju business sentiment up for May
Business survey index rises 5 points

A new poll shows business sentiment in Jeju has improved, with companies forecasting better conditions in May.

The Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea released the results of its business survey index Monday. It polled 297 local firms. The BSI came in at 86 for May. That’s up five points from where it stood in April, at 81.

The BSI measures corporate confidence. A reading below 100 means a majority of firms expect conditions to get worse. A reading above 100 means optimists outnumber pessimists.

Manufacturing sentiment rose 3 points, due mainly to increased sales in the food and beverage industry. Non-manufacturing sentiment also increased by 3 points, on the back of the island’s thriving tourism industry.

The index for corporate sales rose nine points from April to a score of 80 for this month.

지난달 업황 기업경기지수는 86으로 전달보다 5포인트 상승했습니다.

제조업 업황전망지수는 음식료품을 중심으로 전달보다 3포인트 상승했고,
비제조업은 관광관련 서비스업 호조에 힘입어
3포인트 상승한 86을 기록했습니다.

매출 기업경기지수도 80으로 전달보다 9포인트 올랐습니다.
