Construction recently began on the fourth international school in the Jeju Global Education City. St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju will open in September 2017. Mike Balfour reports.

In the Jeju Global Education City, construction has begun on the St. Johnsbury Academy, an American private school with a 170-year history.
It is the fourth international school in Jeju’s Global Education City. The three schools already established are the North London Collegiate School Jeju, Branksome Hall Asia, and Korea International School.
[slug] Over 1,200 students to follow American curriculum
St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju will be a boarding school offering elementary, middle, and high school education.
It will have 68 classes and accept about 1,200 students in total.
The Jeju campus of the American school will use an American curriculum.

Korean students can have their time at the school recognized by the Korean education system and have advantages when entering American universities because they will have an education based on the American curriculum.
The tuition fee hasn’t been decided yet, but the school says it will be lower than the other international schools in Jeju’s Global Education City.
The school is planning to seek students beginning this August for the fall semester of September, 2017.

The island aims at having seven international schools in the Global Education City by 2021, with some 9,000 students enrolled among them. The completion of this new school will be a clear indicator of reaching that goal.
