Jeolmul Forest has 4,000 Saewooran plants on display

Jeju’s native orchid, the Saewooran(새우란), has started flowering at the Jeolmul(절물) Natural Recreation Forest.

Officials at the Jeolmul(절물) Ecology Management Office say
some 4,000 planted Saewooran(새우란) have started to bloom in the forest, attracting photographers and tourists to the site.

The flowers are expected to stay in full bloom until mid-May.

The Saewooran(새우란) is an orchid species native to Jeju and include several types, including the Gold Saewooran(새우란) and the Halla Saewooran(새우란).

제주시 절물생태관리사무소는 새우란 자생지 복원사업으로 식재된 4천여 촉의 새우란이 최근 꽃을 피워 탐방객과 사진작가들에게 인기를 끌고 있다고
밝혔습니다.

이에따라 이달 중순까지는 새우란이 만개한 모습을 감상할 수 있을 것으로 예상됩니다.

새우란은 5월에 피는 제주 사생난으로 색깔에 따라 금새우란과 한라새우란 등 여러 종으로 불립니다.
