Land ministry says Jeju’s new airport to open in 2025
Demand projected to far outstrip current facility’s capacity by then

National authorities say Jeju’s second airport will be up and running in 2025.

Seoul on Tuesday announced its 5th Mid- to Long-Term Comprehensive Airport Development Plan.

Jeju’s second airport will be built to better handle a spike in passenger traffic. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport predicts that by 2025, passenger demand will surge to 41 million people a year. The existing airport has an annual capacity of 32 million users.

제5차 공항개발 중장기 종합계획에 따르면
제주권은 제2공항 건설을 조속히 추진해
2025년 개항하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다.

국토부는 2025년이면 여객 수요가 4천 1백만여 명으로
최대 3천 2백만 명을 수용하는 기존 공항 만으로는 한계가 있는 만큼
제2공항 건설로 급증하는 항공 수요에 대비해야 한다고 분석했습니다.
