Hannam Experimental Forest open to public through October
560 species of flora and fauna

An experimental forest in Hannam, Namwon-eup, Seogwipo… is now open to the public.

According to the Korea Forest Research Institute's Warm Temperate and Subtropical Forest Research Center, the forest was created in the 1930s. It is now home to some 560 species of plants and animals, including protected species such as the fairy pitta and mandarin duck, which are both natural monuments in Korea, as well as the long-tailed redstart, which is globally endangered.

The forest is open from nine to five daily through the end of October. Experts are on-hand for guided tours.

서귀포시 남원읍 제주 한남연구시험림을 일반인에게 개방합니다.

이번에 개방하는 한남연구시험림은 지난 1930년대부터 조림시험을 추진한 산림지역으로 560여종의 동식물이 서식하고 있고 특히 천연기념물인 팔색조와 원앙,
국제적 멸종 위기종인 긴꼬리 딱새 등이 번식하고 있습니다.

탐방은 오는 10월까지 오전 9시부터 오후 5시까지이며
숲 해설가와 함께 하는 '숲 해설 프로그램'도 진행됩니다.
