Jeju Forum begins
5,000 attendees from 60+ countries

The 11th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity has kicked off its three-day run at the International Convention Center in Seogwipo.

This year’s theme is Asia’s New Order and Cooperative Leadership. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama, and former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad are some of the global dignitaries attending. A total of some 5,000 people from over 60 countries are expected.

Secretary-General Ban will give the keynote. Sixty-nine sessions will follow. They include discussions on promoting nuclear safety and denuclearizing North Korea.

Also of note, JB Straubel from Tesla Motors and Jeju Governor Won Heeryong will on the last day hold a special session on the changes expected with the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

평화 번영 '제주포럼' 내일 개최

제11회 제주포럼이 내일(25일)부터 27일까지 사흘동안 제주국제컨벤션센터에서 열립니다.

아시아의 새로운 질서와 협력적 리더십을 주제로 열리는 이번 제주포럼에는
반기문 UN 사무총장을 비롯해 무라야마 도미이치 전 일본 총리, 마하티르 모하마드 전
말레이시아 총리 등 세계 지도자와 전현직 국가 정상 등 60여개 국에서 5천여 명이 참석합니다.

이번 포럼에서는 반기문 UN 사무총장의 기조연설을 시작으로 아시아 태평양 핵 안보와 북핵 이슈 등을 집중 조명하는 토론 등 총 5개 분야에서 69개 세션이 활발히 진행됩니다.

특히 포럼 마지막 날에는 미국 테슬라 모터스 공동창업자인 J.B. 스트라우벨과
원희룡 제주특별자치도지사가 전기차와 자율주행자동차와 관련된 특별 대담을 갖습니다.
