5,000-ton patrol ship stationed in Jeju
Lee Cheong-ho will begin operations off Ieodo next month

The nation’s largest marine patrol vessel has been stationed in Jeju.

The Korean Coast Guard has announced that the newly-commissioned 5,000-ton ‘Lee Cheong-ho’ has docked at the Seogwipo Coast Guard Station. Preparations are underway for its dispatch to the nation’s southernmost waters off Ieodo.

It is 150 meters long, 16-and-a-half meters wide, and 22 meters high.

Coast guardsmen will undergo special training for work on the new ship before it is officially commissioned on June 21st.

국내 최대 규모 경비함인
5천톤 급 이청호함이 제주에 배치됐습니다.

국민안전처 해양경비안전본부는
이어도를 비롯한 우리나라 남쪽 해역의 수호를 위해
5천톤급 경비함 이청호함을
서귀포해양경비안전서에 배치했다고 밝혔습니다.

이청호함은 길이 150m, 폭 16.5m, 높이 22m로
해경이 보유한 함정 가운데 가장 큽니다.

해경은 훈련 등을 거친 후 다음달 21일 본격적인 취역식을
가질 예정입니다.
