Prices for prepaid garbage bags to increase
Jeju’s current fees below national average

Local residents will start paying a lot more over the next few years for prepaid garbage bags.

The provincial government says Jeju’s prices are low, compared to the rest of the nation and that that is one of the factors behind an increase in the amount of wasted generated on the island.

A five-liter bag currently costs 90 won but is expected to cost 160 next year, 210 won by 2017, and 330 won by 2020.

Food waste disposal bags will also become more expensive. Currently a 3-liter bag costs 54 won. That will go to 135 won next year and 383 won by 2020.

Food waste containers that employ RFID devices currently charge 22 won per kilogram. That fee will go up to 136 won per kilogram by 2020.

쓰레기 종량제 봉투 가격이 대폭 인상될 전망입니다.

제주특별자치도는 현재 5리터를 기준으로 한장에 90원 하는 가연성 종량제 봉투를
내년에 160원, 2017년 210원, 2020년 330원으로 인상하는 방안을 추진합니다.

또 음식물 종량제 봉투의 경우 3리터를 기준으로 현재 한장에 54원에서
내년 135원, 2020년에 383원으로 올리는 방안을 검토합니다.

이와 함께 RFID 계량기 역시 주택을 기준으로
현행 1킬로그램당 22원에서 2020년까지 136원으로 인상합니다.

종량제 봉투 가격이 다른지방에 비해 저렴해
이번에 이같은 인상안을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
