KMA, KCTV to cooperate on new ‘disaster impact forecast’ system
Set to be put in use this summer

The Korea Meteorological Administration and KCTV have agreed to cooperate in the development of a disaster ‘impact forecast’ system that is to be implemented for the first time this summer.

Discussions between weather experts and KCTV took place on Tuesday. KMA chief (고윤화) Ko Yoon-hwa, National Institute of Meteorological Sciences President (조천호) Cho Cheon-ho, and the Jeju Regional Office of Meteorology’s (김세원) Kim Se-won… sat down with KCTV Chairman (공성용) Gong Seong-yong and KCTV CEO (김귀진) Kim Gwi-jin. The parties agreed to cooperate in providing information on the possible impact of typhoons and other natural phenomena.

The two sides also discussed providing information on airborne pollen levels, in addition to general weather forecasts. Finally, KCTV agreed to make use of its two-way satellite TV service so that forecasts would reach as many Jeju residents and tourists as possible.

기상청이 올해부터 영향예보시스템을 도입하기로 한 가운데
KCTV제주방송과 시스템 공동개발 등 협력체계를 구축하기로 했습니다.

오늘 오전 KCTV제주방송을 방문해 공성용 회장과 김귀진 사장을 면담하고
영향예보 시스템 도입이 성공할 수 있도록 공동 노력하기로 했습니다.

특히 일반적인 기상정보 외에 꽃가루를 비롯한 육상과 해상의 다양한 분야에서
영향예보 시스템을 구축하는 방안을 앞으로 적극 논의해 나가기로 했습니다.

이와함께 케이블 TV의 양방향 서비스를 통해
보다 많은 도민과 관광객에게 전달하기 위한 방안마련에도 상호 협력하기로 했습니다.
