Jeju patient tests negative after Zika virus scare
Island still has no confirmed cases


Despite a recent scare, Jeju remains free of the Zika virus.

Provincial officials say test results came back negative Wednesday for a Jeju patient who had been suspected of infection.

The unnamed female was hospitalized a day earlier for showing symptoms similar to that of the Zika virus: she had a rash, a severe headache, and muscle pains. She had traveled to the Philippines the week before. The two other people who traveled with her are said to be in good health.

Separately, a couple who returned from Malaysia last week are currently awaiting test results for suspected cases of dengue fever.

다행히 음성인 것으로 판정됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 지난달 30일부터 나흘동안
필리핀 여행을 다녀온 여성이 발신과 두통, 근육통 등 지카바이러스 의심 증세를 보여
역학 조사를 의뢰했다고 밝혔습니다.

보건환경연구원 검사를 진행한 결과 음성인 것으로 판정됐습니다.

또 이 여성과 함께 필리핀에 같이 여행 다녀온 다른 2명도
현재까지 별다른 증상을 보이지 않고 있습니다.

한편, 제주도는 지난달 23일부터 지난 1일까지
말레이시아 여행을 다녀온 40대 부부에 대해서도
뎅기열 바이러스에 대한 조사를 진행하고 있습니다.
