Number of cruise passengers rises sharply
Tally up nearly 50% compared to this point last year

The number of cruise passengers to Jeju has risen sharply so far this year.

The provincial government says over 45,000 people have visited the island via cruise ship. That’s just about double the 23,000 who had arrived at this point last year.

The number of dockings also spiked over 70 percent from 99 last year to 170 so far this year.

Analysts say the tally will grow significantly through the end of the year. Among other ships, the 100,000-ton Golden Princess is set to dock 11 times by year’s end. It can carry up to 2,600 passengers and 1,100 crew members.

제주를 찾는 크루즈 관광객이 큰 폭으로 증가했습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 올들어 지금까지 제주를 찾은 크루즈 관광객은
4만 5천여 명으로 지난해 같은 기간 2만 3천 명에 비해
두배 가까이 증가했습니다.

크루즈 방문 횟수도 지난해 99회에서 올해 170차례로 70% 이상 늘었습니다.
특히 프린세스 크루즈선사 소속의 10만톤 급 크루즈선인
골든 프린세스호가 오는 13일 첫 입항을 시작으로
연말까지 모두 11차례에 걸쳐 기항할 예정입니다.
