Plan for high-tech industrial complex in Donam scrapped
Land prices make idea economically infeasible

A plan to build a high-tech industrial complex in Donam-dong has been scrapped after experts concluded the project would be economically infeasible.

The price of land in the area rose from an initial 400,000 won per square meter to 700,000 won per square meter. That boosted the expected cost for the project by up to 77 billion won.

The province will now consider other sites for the complex across Jeju, including land owned by the government.


도남 첨단산업단지 '무산'…입지 변경

제주시 도남동에 추진하려던 첨단산업단지 조성 사업이 무산됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 도남동 입지에 타당성 용역결과 경제성이 없는 것으로 결론 났다고 밝혔습니다.

제주도는 최근 땅값이 오르면서 조성원가가 제곱미터당 40만원에서 70만원으로 올랐고
이로인해 전체 사업비도 770억원까지 상승해 입지로는 부적합하다고 판단했습니다.

이에따라 국공유지 등 다른 지역을 대상으로 예정부지 선정 작업을 진행할 예정입니다.
