Jeju to purchase former Tamna University campus

The provincial government is set to purchase the land and buildings that once were Tamna University.

Officials reportedly signed on June 10th the real estate deal with the Dongwon Education Foundation, which operated the university.

Officials say the purchase has two motives: adding to the province’s public assets and normalizing operations at Jeju International University, which was formed through a merger between Tamna University and the Jeju College of Technology.

The land and buildings have an official appraised value of 41.7 billion won.

제주특별자치도가 옛 탐라대학교 부지와 건물을 매입합니다.

이의 일환으로 지난 10일 학교법인 동원교육학원측과
탐라대 부지 등에 대한 매매계약을 체결했다고 밝혔습니다.

제주도는 제주의 미래발전을 위한 공유자산 확보와
제주국제대학교의 정상화 계기가 될 것이라며
계약 체결 배경을 설명했습니다.

한편 옛 탐라대 부지와 건물 등에 대한 감정가는 417억 원입니다.
