“Limiting casino size is ‘double-regulating’”
Professor argues against institution of new rule

An academic expert says the proposed regulation of casino size in Jeju would be inappropriate.

Professor (서원석) Seo Wonseok of Kyeonghee University made the comments Friday at the provincial office during a public hearing on the future of the local casino industry.

He said that such regulation is unprecedented both at home and abroad, and that there is no objective basis for the restrictions.

Seo also pointed out Jeju’s existing restrictions on the number of tourists allowed to use casinos, saying that imposing another rule would be a case of “double-regulating” gaming facilities.

또 현재 관광객 수에 따라 카지노 공급을 제한하는 규정이 있는 상황에서
면적 총량제까지 도입하면 이중 규제가 될 수 있다고 설명했습니다.
