Highest percentage of environmentally-friendly cars
1.5% of locally-registered vehicles are ‘green’

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association say that Jeju is home to more environmentally-friendly cars per capita than anywhere else in the nation, and that Jeju has a relatively low percentage of diesel-powered vehicles.

As of the end of 2015, there were some 6,700 environmentally-friendly cars, including electric vehicles, registered in Jeju. That’s 1.5 percent of all local registrations, the highest percentage nationwide.

177,000 diesel cars were also registered here. That was 40.8 percent of all vehicles in Jeju. The national average was 41.1 percent.

Jeollanam-do Province had the highest percentage of diesel vehicles in the nation, at 49.4 percent.

친환경차량 비율 높고 경유차는 낮아

제주에 등록된 차량 가운데 친환경비율이 높고 경유차는 비교적 낮은 것으로 조사됐습니다.

국토교통부와 한국자동차산업협회 등에 따르면 지난해 말 기준으로 제주의 등록 차량 가운데 하이브리드나 전기차 등 친환경차량은 6천 700여대로 1.5%를 보여 전국에서 가장 높은 것으로 나타났습니다.

경유차는 17만 7천여대로 40.8%를 보여 전국 평균 41.1% 에 비해 낮은 것으로 분석됐습니다.

전국 지자체 가운데 경유차 등록비율이 가장 높은 지역은 전라남도로 49.4%를 기록했습니다.
