Drinking water at Jeju beaches ‘safe’
Drinking fountain water tested at 11 beaches

Local officials say the water in drinking fountains at the island’s beaches is safe to drink.

The water resources department began two weeks of water quality tests on June 7th. All samples from fountains at 11 beaches were deemed safe. They were tested for levels of bacteria, ionized ammonia, and eight other harmful substances.

The drinking fountains have been marked with certification stickers to show that the water passed quality tests.

Provincial officials will conduct water quality tests twice a month through August, when the beaches officially close at the end of the peak summer season.

도내 지정 해수욕장 음수대 수질 '안전'

제주도내 해수욕장 음수대 수돗물이 안전한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주특별자치도 수자원본부가 지난 7일부터 2주 동안 제주도 지정 11개 해변의 음수대의 수돗물을 점검한 결과 일반세균과 총대장균군, 염소이온, 암모니아성질소 등 10개 항목 모두 기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났습니다.

이에 따라 지정 해수욕장 음수대에는 이용객들이 안심하고 마실 수 있도록 수돗물 인증스티커가 부착됐습니다.

제주도 수자원본부는 해수욕장이 폐장하는 8월까지 매달 2차례씩 음수대 수돗물 수질검사를 실시할 예정입니다.
