Jeju slides to 6th most popular domestic travel destination
Survey respondents cite lack of flight tickets, pricey accommodations

Jeju has been voted the sixth most popular domestic travel destination.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism surveyed 1,300 people between June 17th and 24th and announced that Jeju came in 6th with 7.9 percent of the votes.

That’s down one spot from last year’s fifth-place finish. The reasons for the drop include the difficulty prospective travelers face when booking flight tickets to the island and how relatively expensive accommodations are here.

Gangwondo Province ranked first with 24.6 percent of the votes, followed by Gyeongsangnamdo Province at 13.5 percent, and Choonchungnamdo with 10.7 percent of the votes.

제주가 국내 여름휴가 목적지로 지난해보다 낮은 순위를 받았습니다.

문화체육관광부가 지난달 17일부터 24일까지 올해 국민의 여름철 휴가 계획을 파악하기 위해 1천300여 명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과
국내 휴가 목적지로 제주는 7.9%를 얻어 6위를 기록했습니다.

지난해 5위보다 한 단계 하락한 것으로 제주행 항공권을 구하기 어렵고
숙박비 등 요금이 비싸기 때문으로 파악되고 있습니다.

한편 국내 여름휴가 목적지로 강원도가 24.6%로 1위를 차지했고
경상남도 13.5%, 충청남도 10.7%로 뒤를 이었습니다.
