Researchers project glut of mandarin oranges this year
Province to assist growers in thinning out their crops

Analysts project an oversupply of Jeju mandarin oranges this year, so the province will be providing assistance with thinning out the fruit at farms across the island.

One organization or group will be paired with every mandarin farm that lacks sufficient workers to thin the fruit.

The province will also encourage growers to work through a mentoring program to get rid of all substandard mandarins.

Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services surveyed the fruit crop in May, and projected that this year’s harvest would be 100,000 tons higher than optimum.

지난 5월 제주도농업기술원이 발표한
올해 노지감귤 관측조사 결과
적정생산량보다
10만톤 많은 61만톤이 생산될 것으로 예측된 바 있습니다.
