4 being questioned about suffocation accident
2 workers died July 7 in Pyoseon sewage treatment plant

Two workers suffocated July 7th at a sewage treatment plant in Pyoseon-myeon, and four people have been indicted and are being questioned about the incident.

Seogwipo police are investigating a 42-year-old surnamed Yoon from the Jeju Office of Water Resources on charges of professional negligence resulting in death. That office supervises all sewage facilities on the island.

Also under investigation are two people from the company contracted for work at the plant, included the 52-year-old CEO surnamed Kim. Finally, police also indicted the 54-year-old CEO of the company who built the sewage plant. His last name is “Ko.”

Police say they are also looking into whether or not any construction violations were committed by subcontractors.

공사 관리감독자인 수자원본부 공무원 42살 윤 모 씨를
업무상 과실치사 혐의로 입건해 조사하고 있습니다.

경찰은 또
원도급 업체인 S사 대표 52살 김 모 씨 등 2명과
실제 공사를 담당했던 D업체 대표 54살 고 모 씨도
조사하고 있습니다.

경찰은
하도급 과정에서 건설산업기본법 위반 여부는 없는지도
살피고 있습니다.
