New safety inspections at Gangjeong port
Simulation will test facility’s ability to handle jumbo cruiseliner

Safety inspectors will test the yet-to-open cruise port in Gangjeong, Seogwipo for its ability to handle jumbo cruise ships.

The province has so far completed inspections on the safety of simultaneous dockings of two 150,000 ton cruise-liners at the Seogwipo port. The upcoming inspection will be on the safety of dockings for 225,000 ton cruiseliners… following a recent request that a vessel of that size be able to dock there once the port opens.

A simulation will test the port’s ability to handle the entrance and exit of a large cruiseliner during inclement weather conditions. The results of that simulation will be released around November.

민군복합항 '대형 크루즈' 입출항 안전성 검토

입출항 과정에 대한 안전성 검토가 진행됩니다.

제주도는 현재 15만톤급 크루즈 2척에 대해서만 안전성 검토를 마친 상태인 민군복합항에 22만 5천톤급 크루즈도 안전하게 입출항할 수 있는지 파악하기 위해 이달 안으로 관련 용역을 발주한다고 밝혔습니다.

이번 안전성 검토는 민군복합항 개항을 앞두고 기항 신청을 접수한 결과
22만 5천톤급 대형 크루즈가 기향할 의사를 밝힘에 따라 이뤄지는 것입니다.

용역은 선박 조종에 불리한 자연환경을 가정해 대형 크루즈선의 입출항 과정을 시뮬레이션 하게 되며 용역 결과는 11월쯤 나올 예정입니다.
