Hallim, Jocheon considered for ‘Happy Housing’
Public rentals offered out at significant discount

The provincial government has submitted an application to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to build an additional 1,000 so-called ‘Happy Housing’ units in Hallim and Jocheon.

The ministry will evaluate all requests nationwide before announcing its decisions for the public rentals around the end of August.

Jeju has already received approval to build 1,400 Happy Housing units in nine districts including Bonggae-dong and the Jeju Innocity in Seogwipo.

These public rentals are specifically targeted at university students, those new to the workforce, and newlyweds. Rent is around 40 percent cheaper than market prices, and tenants may live in the homes for up to 10 years.

한림·조천 등 4 곳 행복주택 후보지 신청

제주특별자치도가 국토교통부에 행복주택 후보지 네 곳을 신청했습니다.

제주도는 어제(27) 국토교통부에 한림과 조천 그리고 동지역 2 곳을 행복주택 후보지로 선정하고 1천 세대 규모 조성 계획을 제출했습니다.

국토부는 전국 심사를 거친 뒤 다음달 말쯤 행복주택 추가 입지 선정 결과를 발표할 계획입니다.

한편 제주지역에는 봉개동과 서귀포 혁신도시 등 9곳에 1천 4백 세대 규모의 행복주택 부지가 확정돼 있습니다.
