Aircraft tire explodes after landing
No injuries reported
One of the front tires on a Korean Air jet exploded after landing at Jeju International Airport at 11:57 Friday morning.
Flight KE 718 had originated in Narita, Japan.
The accident reportedly happened after the aircraft touched down and while it was taxiing to the apron.
156 people were on the plane, including crew and passengers. Everyone was able to safely disembark by stairs and then be transported to the terminal. No injuries were reported.
Part of the terminal was temporarily shut down for a little over an hour, though, and that resulted in some flight delays. It reopened at 1:14 p.m.
Officials are now trying to figure out why the tire exploded.
