Multi-purpose transit center proposed for airport
Jeju selected as one of 21 possible sites

A plan to build a multi-purpose transit center at Jeju International Airport is likely to get a boost now that it is included in Seoul’s latest development plan.

The transport ministry recently unveiled its list of 21 possible sites across the nation -- including Jeju -- where multi-purpose transit centers may be established.

Following the announcement, Jeju officials are now in the process of choosing a developer for the project and working out the details of the plan.

The proposed transit center would span some 150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand) square meters near Jeju International Airport. This would include public transportation platforms,a shopping mall and culture center. The plan is to complete the center by 2020.

국토교통부는 최근 복합환승센터로 개발 가능한 교통거점으로
제주를 포함한 전국 21곳을 발표했습니다.

이에따라 제주도는 복합환승센터 사업시행자를 공모해
개발계획을 수립하는 등 후속절차에 들어갈 계획입니다.

복합환승센터는 제주공항 인근 15만 제곱미터에
대중교통 승하차장과 쇼핑 문화센터 등을 갖추게 되는데
제주도는 2020년 준공을 목표로 하고 있습니다.
