Jeju marks 70 years of provincehood
10 years as special self-governing province

Dignitaries and members of the general public attended a ceremony held Monday at the Jeju Mokgwana (제주목관아), the former Jeju Government Office in Jeju City.

Governor Won Heeryong (원희룡) and Chairman of the Provincial Council Shin Gwan-hong (신관홍) were in attendance, as well as some 1,300 honorary Jeju citizens and multicultural families.

Governor Won thanked the people for making Jeju a quote “global treasure,” and encouraged everyone to lead Jeju’s next 100 years as an eco-friendly island.

Chairman Shin meanwhile stressed Jeju’s clean environment and inclusiveness, adding that the island should keep those core values in mind.


도제 70년 특별자치 10년 기념식

도제실시 70주년, 특별자치도 출범 10주년 기념식이 오늘 제주목관아에서 열렸습니다.

기념식에는 원희룡지사와 신관홍 제주도의회 의장과
재외명예도민과 다문화가정 등 1천 3백여 명이 참석한 가운데 경과보고와 축사 표창 등의 순서로 진행됐습니다.

원희룡 지사는 기념사를 통해 변방의 섬 제주를 세계의 보물로 만들어 온
도민 여러분께 감사를 드린다며 생태 환경 평화 문화가 어우러진
제주 미래 100년을 위한 희망의 발걸음을 함께 걸어나가자고 밝혔습니다.

신광홍 의장도 축사에서 청정과 공존이라는 핵심가치를 내건
제주미래비전으로 세계를 향해 힘차게 나아가자고 강조했습니다.
