Jeju has nation’s highest rate of major crime
153.62 per 10,000 residents in 2015

Jeju has the dubious distinction of having had last year the nation’s highest major crime rate.

Lawmaker (진선미) Jin Seon-mi of the National Assembly’s Public Administration and Security Committee said Tuesday that there were 153.62 crimes involving murder, robbery, theft, and/or violence for every 10,000 Jeju residents last year.

Next on the list after Jeju was Gwangju with an average of 122.79 crimes per every 10,000 people, then Daejeon with 121.46 and Seoul with 121.17.

By type of crime in Jeju, violence was the most numerous, at 686.25 cases per 10,000 people… followed by theft at 66.42… robbery at 0.52 cases and murder at 0.42.

제주 4대 강력범죄 발생률 전국 최고 수준

지난해 제주에서 발생한 살인과 강도, 절도, 폭력 등 4대 강력범죄가 전국 최고수준인 것으로 나타났습니다.

국회 안전행정위원회 진선미 의원이 경찰청에서 제출받은 자료에 따르면 지난해 제주에서 발생한 4대 강력범죄는 인구 1만 명 당 153.62건으로 전국에서 가장 높았습니다.

특히 유형별로도 인구 1만명 당 폭력이 686.25건, 절도 66.42건, 강도 0.52건, 살인 0.42건으로 모든 유형에서 가장 높게 나타났습니다.

제주 다음으로는 광주 122.79건, 대전 121.46건, 서울 121.17건 순으로 범죄 발생률이 높은 것으로 조사됐습니다.
