Food banned from Jeju City flea markets
Authorities cite health risks

The cooking and selling of food is now banned at area flea markets.

Jeju City says it imposed the new regulation due to the high possibility of food poisoning and the lack of hygiene inspections at the markets.

Officials will first send out notices to all flea market organizers banning the sale of food. If the rule is not observed, penalties will be imposed.

Currently ten official flea markets exist in Jeju City. Eight sell food.

벼룩시장 개념인 플리마켓에서 음식물 판매가 금지됩니다.

제주시는 야외에서 오염 차단시설 없이 음식물을 판매할 경우
식중독 발생의 우려가 높고 식품위생법에도 어긋난다며
플리마켓의 음식물 판매를 금지한다고 밝혔습니다.

이에따라 제주시는 플리마켓 주최자에게 음식물 판매 금지에 대한
협조 공문을 보내고 일정기간이 지난 뒤에도 계속 판매할 경우
형사고발한다는 방침입니다.

현재 제주시에는 10군데 플리마켓이 운영되고 있으며
이 가운데 8군데 에서 음식물을 판매하는 것으로 조사됐습니다.
