Jeju-Busan ferry service back in operation
Daily sailings reinstated after string of accidents

Ferry service between Jeju and Busan... which was halted due to a string of accidents just one month after launching… is now back in operation.

The provincial government says the Red Star and Blue Star ferries had normalized their operations as of August 16th. The vessels run on alternate days.

The Red Star began sailing the Jeju-Busan route at the end of July but was involved in a collision August 13th near Busan Port. The Blue Star was forced to cancel service due to engine malfunctions on July 29th and August 15th.

Provincial authorities have requested stricter safety inspections to prevent future accidents.

취항 한달도 안돼 잇따른 사고로 운항이 중단됐던
제주 부산 여객선 운항이 정상화 됐습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면
제주와 부산 여객선인 레드스타호와 블루스타호 두 척이
지난 16일부터 격일제로 정상 운항하고 있습니다.

레드스타호는 지난달 말 첫 출항했지만,
이달 13일 부산항 접안 중 다른 선박과 충돌하는 사고가 났고
블루스타호는 지난달 29일과 이달 15일 기관고장으로
출항하지 못했습니다.

제주도는 여객선 사고 재발방지를 위해
해당 선사와 면허기관에 철저한 안전점검을 주문했습니다.
