Hairtail consignment sales jump 55%
Lack of typhoons this summer means larger catch

Consignment sales of hairtail have spiked over the last year.

Provincial officials say 3,058 tons of of the fish was sold on consignment over the last two months. That’s 31 percent more than during the same period last year.

Sales were up 55 percent this year to 45.2 billion won.

Experts say the absence of a typhoon in Jeju this summer boosted the hairtail catch, which, in turn, resulted in greater sales.

갈치 위판액 '껑충'…전년대비 55% 증가

갈치 위판량과 위판액이 지난해보다 큰 폭으로 증가했습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난 두 달 동안 집계된 갈치 위판량은 3천 58톤으로
작년 동기 대비 31% 증가했습니다.

특히 갈치 위판액은 452억 원을 기록하며 지난해 같은기간 292억원보다 55% 늘었습니다.

제주도는 태풍이 없어 해상기상이 양호해 갈치 조업일수가 늘었기 때문으로 분석하고 있습니다.
