28-year-old woman allegedly received package with drugs in the mail

An American teaching assistant at a high school in Jeju has been arrested on drug smuggling charges.

Jeju District Court Judge Kim Jeong-min issued the arrest warrant September 1st for the 28-year-old woman, identified only by the initial K. Undercover detectives say they caught her August 29th receiving a shipment of drugs in the mail at her residence in Yeondong, Jeju City.

The prosecution is currently investigating her involvement in the smuggling and details regarding the package.

제주도내 한 고등학교에 재직중인 외국인 원어민 보조교사가 마약을 밀수한 혐의로 구속돼 파장이 일고 있습니다.

제주지방법원 김정민 영장전담판사는 어제(1일) 마약을 밀반입한 혐의로 현장에서 검거된 미국국적의 28살 K모 여인에 대해 구속영장을 발부했습니다.

검찰에 따르면 K씨는 지난달 29일 제주시 연동에 있는 숙소에서 국제특송화물로 마약을 받다 잠복중인 검찰 수사관들에 의해 적발됐습니다.

검찰은 K씨를 상대로 마약 밀반입 경위와 투약여부, 공범이 있는지 여부를 집중조사하고 있습니다.
