July passenger count on Jeju flights skyrockets
40% more than July 2015

Compared to last July, many more people took both inbound and outbound Jeju flights this July.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport puts the tally at 2.7 million passengers, which is 40 percent more than last year.

The travel industry suffered a blow from a MERS outbreak in July 2015… with many flights between Jeju and China being cancelled last summer. The number of international air passengers therefore skyrocketed this July by 583 percent to 292,000.

There were 24 percent more people on domestic Jeju flights, for a total of 2.4 million. That was 87 percent of all domestic flight passengers in the nation.

7월 제주노선 항공기 이용객 '급증'

지난 7월 여름 휴가철을 맞아 국제선을 중심으로 제주노선 항공기 이용객이 크게 증가한 것으로 나타났습니다.

국토교통부에 따르면 지난 7월 제주노선 항공기 이용객은 271만 5천여 명으로
지난해 같은 기간보다 40% 증가했습니다.

특히 지난해 7월 메르스 사태로 운항이 중단됐던 중국노선 항공기 운항이 재개되면서 국제선 이용객이 전년보다 583% 증가한 29만 2천여 명으로 집계됐습니다.

국내선 이용객도 24% 늘어난 242만 2천여 명으로 87%의 점유율을 기록했습니다.
