Chuseok food items ‘safe from pesticides’
Researchers test dozens of popular items

Researchers say they discovered no unhealthy levels of pesticide in popular Chuseok foods.

The Jeju Institute of Environment Research tested 40 agricultural food items for pesticide residue. All samples tested within the safe range.

Researchers also examined 50 processed food products. All were deemed safe in terms of heavy metal content, but the sugar content in the honey that was tested was substandard. Officials will therefore likely suspend business operations of the company that makes that honey.

추석 성수품에 대한 농약 검사 결과 품목 대부분 기준치 이하로 안전한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주도보건환경연구원에 따르면 추석 주요 농수산물 40여 품목은 잔류농약과 유해물질 검사 결과 성분이 검출되지 않거나 기준치 이하로 나타났습니다.

떡과 한과류 등 가공식품 50 품목도 중금속과 대장균 검사 등에서 적합 판정이 나왔지만 벌꿀은 당 함량기준에 미달해 제주시가 해당 업체에 대해서는
영업정지 등의 행정처분을 내릴 방침입니다.
