Leaves projected to begin turning on Hallasan October 20
Later than usual

Meteorologists project leaves will start turning on Hallasan Mountain around October 20th, which is five days later than average and 13 days later than last year.

Private weather agency Kweather said Monday that the prediction was based on the warmer-than-usual temperatures forecast for this month and next. Leaves will likely begin turning anywhere from two to eight days later than normal.

The first fall foliage in the nation is forecast to appear on Seoraksan Mountain around September 29th.

Autumn leaves usually peak two weeks after first being sighted. That would be around November 3rd for Hallasan.

단풍의 절정시기는 첫 단풍 이후 약 2주 뒤로 한라산에서는 11월 3일에 나타날 것으로 전망됩니다.
