‘Urban Renewal Support Center’ opens
Bridge between administration and residents

A so-called Urban Renewal Support Center has opened to act as a bridge between residents and the administration in reviving the old city center in Jeju City.

A traditional house in Samdo 2-dong has been refurbished to house the new center, which will be used to encourage area residents to become involved in the renewal project as well as to hold training programs for members of the public.

Backers say it will allow for easier communication between residents, business people, and local officials. They expect it will therefore help restore the old city center into a new historical and cultural site.

도시재생지원센터 개소…"행정-주민 가교 역할"

제주시 원도심의 정주 여건을 개선하기 위해 지역주민과 가교 역할을 하게 될 제주도 도시재생지원센터가 문을 열었습니다.

도시재생지원센터는 오늘 오전 제주시 삼도2동의 옛 가옥을 리모델링해 사무 공간을 차리고 본격적인 업무를 시작했습니다.

도시재생지원센터는 도시재생사업에 대한 주민 참여를 유도하고 주민교육프로그램 기획 운영, 주민역량 강화사업 등을 추진하게 됩니다.

특히 도시재생사업을 추진함에 있어 지역주민이나 상인과 함께 기획하고 운영해 침체된 원도심을 역사와 문화가 베어나는 원도심으로 변모시킨다는 방침입니다.
