Jeon Hye-seong wins Kim Man-deok Award for volunteering
87-year-old will receive award October 5

Jeon Hye-seong will receive this year’s Kim Man-deok Award for her volunteer efforts.

The 87-year-old has provided scholarships for Jeju students to study in the Conneticut State University system in the U.S. and succeeded in getting Kim Man-deok’s life story included in the women’s studies textbooks used at Yale University and Albertus Magnus College.

She is being commended for both exemplifying the spirit of Kim Man-deok and disseminating her life story and lessons across the globe.

The award ceremony will be October 5th at the 37th Kim Man-deok Festival, which is being held at Sarabong Mochoong Temple.

전혜성씨는 제주도 학생들이 미국 코넷티컷 주립대학에서 공부할 수 있도록 장학금을 설립하고,

김만덕의 생애를 예일대와 알베르투스 마그누스 대학교 여성학 교재에 포함시키는 등

김만덕의 나눔과 베풂의 정신을 실천하고 세계화 하는데 기여한 공로를 인정받았습니다.

김만덕상 시상식은 다음달 5일 사라봉 모충사에서 제37회 만덕제와 함께 개최됩니다.
