Reconstruction possible for Jewon Apartments
‘D’ in safety assessment opens up way for work, but challenges remain

Officials have given a “D” to the oldest apartment complex in Jeju in a recent safety assessment, making it eligible for reconstruction.

The provincial government says it began the assessment of Jewon Apartments in July, in response to a request by residents to have the apartment rebuilt.

Even though the complex is now a candidate for reconstruction, it remains to be seen when and how work might begin. Several public roads pass through the complex and traffic would come to a halt in the area should the complex be closed off for reconstruction.

제주에서 가장 오래된 아파트단지인 제원아파트에 대한 정밀 안전진단 결과 조건부 재건축이 가능한 D등급이 나왔습니다.

제주시는 제원아파트 입주민들의 재건축 신청에 따른 후속 조치로 지난 7월부터 정밀 안전진단 용역을 벌인 결과 D등급이 나왔다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라 제원아파트는 재건축을 할 수 있는 기본적인 요건은 갖추게 됐습니다.

다만 재건축을 추진하려면 지구단위계획 수립과 단지내 공공도로 편입에 따른 교통환경 개선 대책 마련 등 풀어야 할 과제가 많습니다.
