Province says lawmaker should explain statements


The provincial government and council are increasingly on a crash course regarding controversies about the Ora Tourism Complex.


Lawmaker Kang Gyeong-shik last week made a statement at the council about the provincial government showing undue favor in the development of the complex. Lawmaker Kim Kyung-hak defended that statement, saying Kang had brought up the issue to demand a response to the accusation. Kim said Kang did not deserve the wave of criticism his words spawned.

He added that the current situation was a distraction from moving the project forward and that the entire endeavor is now only consumed in conflict.

Ha Min-chul, the chair of the Environment and Urban Committee, agreed. He asked the provincial government to restrain itself so as not to worsen the situation.

In response, provincial officials said that the project has proceeded based on laws and principles. They argued that residents had the right to hear Kang explain his statements.

그러는 사이에 사업의 본질은 사라지고 도정과 의회의 갈등만 남게 됐다고 말했습니다.


또 하민철 환경도시위원장도 이번 사태와 관련해 제주도가 강경하게 대응하고 있다며 더 이상 확산되지 않도록 노력해달라고 덧붙였습니다.


이에 대해 제주도는 현재 오라관광단지는 법과 원칙에 따라 절차를 밟아가고 있으며 강경식 의원에 대한 해명 요구도
도민의 알권리 차원이라고 답변했습니다.
