Agricultural organizations seek special compensation measures
Farmers condemn lack of help for crop, greenhouse damage


Agricultural organizations are seeking compensation from the provincial government for damage caused by Typhoon Chaba.

At a Tuesday morning press conference from the provincial council building, the organizations blasted the province because its compensation policy for such damage excludes crops and the vinyl used to enclose greenhouses.

Accordingly, the organizations urged the provincial government to come up with compensation measures for crops as well as take out disaster insurance tailored to the risks Jeju farmers often face.


"태풍 피해 1차산업 특별보상대책 마련해야"


제주도내 농민단체들이 태풍 피해를 입은 1차산업에 대한 특별보상대책을 마련하라고 촉구했습니다.

이들은 오늘(25일) 오전 제주도의회 도민의 방에서 기자회견을 열고 하우스 비닐과 농작물 피해의 경우 태풍 피해집계 항목에서 제외됐고 제주도는 아직도 아무런 대책을 세우지 않고 있다고 비판했습니다.


이에따라 피해 규모가 큰 하우스 비닐과 농작물에 대한 보상대책을 수립하고 제주의 특수성을 고려한 별도의 재해보험제도를 마련해 줄 것을 촉구했습니다.
